Treat others how we should, not how we can

I’ve been musing lately how we often treat others how we can, not how we should.

For example, how likely are we to be punctual and prepared for a meeting with a direct report? Contrast that answer with our behavior for a meeting with the CEO.

Treating others how we should isn’t just for the altruistic either. Who has the largest impact on our success, direct reports or the CEO? Think about it.
